What the subscription covers

One line on your bill, and this is what is inside it

Not a low opening figure with the parts you cannot do without sold alongside it. What you edit the site in, the machine it runs on and the room your pictures take are one item, and there is no version of this where one of them has been left out to be quoted for later.

Pages, posts, testimonials and the look of the whole thing, changed from your own screen whenever you want them changed. Nothing to install, and nobody to book a slot with before a price on a page can be corrected.

The machine it runs on

Kept on ours rather than rented in your name, watched by us. There is no second bill arriving for the hosting, and nobody to ring but us on the morning a page will not load.

The room your files take

Photographs, drawings and papers kept in the site’s own library, where its pages read them from — rather than borrowed from somewhere else with its own opinion about how long it keeps them.

They are one item because separating them would make the product worse. A builder you pay for on its own is a builder somebody eventually stops paying for, and a site whose room for pictures is billed apart from it is a site that quietly stops showing them.

The thing underneath it

You are not paying for the software

Your site is built on KaryalayForge, which is ours. It is not a product with a price, it is not something anybody here can sell you more of, and it is not a line on your bill in any month — including the months you are paying for a site.

Never charged for

  • The framework itself. There is no licence, nothing to renew and no copy to buy.
  • Everything we build into it next. It reaches your site because it is the same one thing we maintain, not because you moved up to a newer edition of it.
  • Anything underneath the site that somebody could sell you more of. There is nothing down there to sell.

What the subscription is buying

  • Keeping the site up, on our machines, watched by people whose number you already have.
  • The room your pictures and papers take, and the work of making sure they are still there next year.
  • Us being the ones who fix it. A fault is ours to find, and it is fixed for everybody at once.

Free here means the ground your site stands on is not for sale — not that a site costs nothing to keep alive. Keeping it alive is the work, we are the ones doing it, and that is the part the subscription is paying for.

The other half

What a website plan is never going to include

Most pricing pages stop at what you get. The half that costs people money is the half nobody prints, so it is printed here — and not one of these becomes available by paying more.

  • A quote for building it

    There is no project here to price, which also means there is nothing to renegotiate the first time you want the front page changed. The site is a subscription from the month it goes up, and building it is what the subscription is for.

  • A copy of the framework

    KaryalayForge is not for sale at any figure. What you are buying is a site that runs on it and is looked after by the people who wrote it. If what you want is software to take away and run on a machine of your own, we are the wrong shop and would rather say so on this page than in a meeting.

  • Enquiry forms with a page of questions

    A newsletter signup lives on the site itself and always will. A form asking a dozen questions is one you author in KaryalayOne and show on the site, so a website standing on its own does not get you that at any price. Better said now than found out in the second month.

  • Lists of a kind nobody keeps

    The lists a page can build itself out of are a fixed set — your catalogue, your posts, your testimonials, and the records the office already holds. A site cannot invent a new kind of list, and there is no plan that adds one.

  • The name, the mail on it, or the platform behind it

    A name is bought by the year and priced by the people who run the ending. A mailbox on it is its own item, bought quarterly or longer. And KaryalayOne Access is limited, covers one website, and is enough for that site to sell from the office’s records — it is not a KaryalayOne subscription of your own. It does not turn into one. All three are usually bought alongside the site, and all three stay separate lines on the bill.

  • A promised answering time

    The plan does not carry one. What it buys is a site kept up and put right by the people who built it, with no clock attached to how quickly the telephone is answered. Ring and ask what the honest answer is — it is a small company, and you will be told.
